Who We Are

Champlain Health Supply Services (CHSS) is a not-for-profit corporation created for the purpose of providing various integrated supply chain management services in both French and English to hospitals on a cost-recovery basis for the purpose of improving their effectiveness and efficiency.

The vision of CHSS is to implement a shared service collaboration for the hospitals and assorted health care providers in the Champlain region, which integrates the operations of sourcing across the region. Through this unification, CHSS will support clinicians in the provision of quality patient care, implement supply chain leading practices and generate savings that can be re-distributed based on hospital priorities.
 
Champlain hospitals have adopted the fundamental strategy that they will regionally align their Sourcing activities and work with a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO). The project Steering Committee determined that a single GPO strategy was appropriate for CHSS, and that extending the existing relationship with HealthPRO would provide our members with the flexibility in adopting contracts beneficial to their needs. 

Support for CHSS was provided by the participating organization Boards of Directors in February, 2008, including the Champlain LHIN and by participating hospital senior management teams via ongoing Steering Committee leadership which transitioned to the CHSS Board of Directors. CHSS initial implementation was funded by the joint investment of member hospitals
and the Government of Ontario through the OntarioBuys initiative.
